On June 30th, Mayor Mickey S. embarked on a PD ride-along day that can be referred to as an “active duty day.” It began with aiding in the recovery of Sergeant Knight and capture of a drug trafficking criminal while accompanying Sheriff Pred, but escalated later in the evening when riding with Sergeant Knight when the stop of a Hydra vehicle and attempted execution of a warrant resulted in a chase and

Subsequent shootout where Sergeant Knight along with other members of the Unified Defense Force were downed. Mayor S. was also a victim of the shooting, but managed to escape as the violent criminals fled the scene. Mr. S., then ran to the aid of Sergeant Knight and began to administer what emergency medical he could until other officers arrived. Corporal Dwayne Carter was the first on scene available to respond as other members of the UFD tracked down the criminals. Unfortunately it appears the criminals escaped. It is a result of events like these that the S. administration has put forth new legislation for instances like these. Hopefully, the use of extreme violence and highly dangerous weapons can be culled in the city in the near future.

As the warrant was being served, the individuals in the vehicle that can only be supposed to be members of Hydra due to a livery on the vehicle, became highly uncooperative and after denying officer orders began to flee the scene. It was noticed at one point when the vehicle was stopped that multiple individuals in the vehicle had apparent Class 2 weapons with them and the officers proceeded to give notice to surrender however the individuals merely taunted back further exacerbating the situation. The chase that ensued went long into the night before eventually leading into the subway tunnels where the individuals seemed to be attempting to prepare for an eventual shootout. Sergeant Knight called this out to Mayor S. in advance as a tactics that gang individuals use as a “choke point” and that both they in his vehicle and the other squad cars should be careful as they continued to pursue. After an abrupt U-turn in the tunnels as Sergeant Knight, the second in the line of pursuit vehicles, turned a corner shots rang out and a 10-13A radio signal flared. It was at that time that a hail of gunfire peppered the pursuit vehicle and Sergeant Knight quickly reversed the vehicle out of direct line of fire before attempting to leave the vehicle armed with his rifle and returning fire. Unfortunately the assailants had pursued around the corner and continued to rain down fire upon Sergeant Knight and Mr. S. though luckily the Mayor was able to dodge behind a pole only taking a few rounds to his vest. Sergeant was heavily wounded and bleeding on the ground mere feet from Mr. S. as the assailants reentered their vehicle and fled the scene. After they had left Mayor Mickey ran to Sergeant Knights side and began to apply pressure to his woulds and provide emergency care while awaiting police response which fortunately was only moments away.  Corporal Carter was able to take control of the scene and aid the Mayor, Sergeant Knight, and the other downed officers in safe recovery until EMS was able to arrive and transport them to Viceroy for emergency medical.

The administration is eternally grateful to the service officers of the Unified Defense Force and gives its thanks to the people who heroically and dutifully carry out their work keeping the streets of Los Santos safe. We would like to formally honor Corporal Dwayne Carter for his exceptional work.
